L'Erin Alta {on honoring your truths}

This week, we talk about how we can access our truth, honor our truth, and share our truth. We discuss why it's important to be consistent about checking in with what's true for you. Our guest, L’Erin Alta, joins us to expand on how spiritual bypass and external forces + influences can keep us from being fully in our truth or being able to fully share our truth. She also helps us explain how to handle life and relationships as your truths change and you shift internally. She riffs with us about why we strive for our truth in a world that seems to fight against our expression of it. Plus, L'Erin brilliantly explains what would be possible if we gave ourselves more permission to be who we already are, and we all offer advice for how to begin giving yourself that permission, and how to come to understand your truth more deeply, and share it more widely.

About The Guest

L'Erin Alta is a soul guide, shadow diver and spiritual teacher known for burning down the stale, fluffy, boring "self-help" formulas and helping women ignite true personal liberation. Her workshops, retreats and 1-on-1 intensives have been called, "transformation temples for unruly, soulful women".

She believes loss, grief and pain are healing initiations and if honored, they will fortify you, bringing you through the shadows into the light of your soul. Using movement, meditation, ritual, art and ancient practices, L’Erin guides women on a spiritual journey, helping them surrender their facades, shed their fears and finally come home to themselves.

If you were to read her resume, it would include Microsoft, non-profits large and small, as well as a 5-year stint as a MAC makeup artist. But what should really be there are the 23 countries where she's studied healing in backwater ashrams, jungle temples and mountain monasteries, working with spiritual teachers, medicine women and shamans from many faiths and spiritual paths to learn about trauma, healing and transformation.

The essence of her work is distilled to freedom - supporting you in finding it, cultivating it, living it.

Because your power is in this moment. In this breath. In this one courageous, against-all-odds, bravely true...Yes.

Top Three Takeaways:

  1. Remember that coming to understand your truths might not happen immediately. Be consistent: make it a daily practice to check in with your truths and what truths you may need to re-write.
  2. Create space to separate your thoughts and logic from getting in the way of understanding your truth. Use your feelings as a guide. Work to acknowledge and accept your truths– first within yourself, next in close relationships, then your smaller community, your larger community, and out and out from within.
  3. Anticipate the possibility that honoring your truth may not be comfortable, pretty, or easy. If possible, still engage, connect, and communicate with others who may not agree with you around your truth.  If you feel unsafe sharing your truth fully– first off, we honor you– and, if you can, take baby steps towards sharing your truth... maybe just with one person you trust, or anonymously.
