Skyler McCurine {on playing big}

In this episode, we talk about what it means to play big and really showing up for your dreams in a big, authentic, vulnerable way. We also discuss the importance of not using motivational things as band-aids, and not looking at enlightenment and self-improvement as a means of escape or an excuse not to look at the reality of the world around us.  Personal stylist, speaker, and truth-teller, Skyler McCurine, joins us to share some amazing insight about the inner work that it takes to play big. She explains that in order to play big, it’s important to look at the pieces of yourself that make you who you are and to be willing to go to the places that remind you the truth of who you are. She discusses the importance of sitting with yourself, getting real with yourself, exploring your pain and your privilege, and asking for help when necessary, in order to learn how to learn to live with hardship, and ultimately walk in the direction of your healing. Skyler beautifully expands on how looking at the places you don’t want to go, will ultimately help you go to the places that you otherwise dare not go.

Top Three Takeaways:

  1. Not all leadership looks the same. The idea of playing big can be different for everyone and differ from day to day. What does big look like for you and how does it show up in your life?
  2. Have your version of playing big be guided by your soul. Do not judge your version of playing big or showing leadership.
  3. Find the pieces of yourself that make you who you are–your holy parts – and find out the places you need to go, bring your truth there, and keep going as best you can.
